a little food

It's so quiet right now I don't know if I even believe it! No babies crying! Including mine... David has definitely been much more vocal since his surgery, I'm so not used to that. What happened to my nice and sweet baby? Ok just kidding, I'm sure it is just hunger combined with so much noise, not sleeping well, laying on one side forever, etc. He is still so cute! I got to hold him again today for quite a while, he had a nice nap. He also drank from a bottle today about half his feeding, but he needs to learn how to pace himself and not gulp so much! Tomorrow he will get a barium study, which is just a quick study to see if he is aspirating when he is gulping. One bad thing about this test is that if it shows he is, I'm pretty sure they will not let me breastfeed... please pray that this will not be the outcome. My desire would be to breastfeed as much as possible and NOT pump!

We have decided to stay at the Ronald McDonald House next to the hospital as long as we can. At this point, the pros outweigh the cons, and it is so nice and easy to see Anna at any point during the day.

Prayers -
oh we need poop again...
barium study without aspiration
shunt continues to function effectively
no infection
rest

Thank you all so much, I continue to be in awe of the amount of people praying with us for David! We feel very blessed!

  1. We are praying as you direct and confident in the continued improvement of your son. So glad you guys are adapting to all the changes. Big hugs to you, Joel, and Anna and a little one for David since he's recovering.

  2. The only positive to being in a nursery with other crying babies is that it produces the most compassionate kids! Every time my little Nathan hears someone cry, he stops and has to make sure everyone is ok- and he's 6 now!! but still doing it. I seriously believe it started when he was in the NICU just listening and responding. I will pray that all that noise makes David a compassionate little boy.

  3. Thanks for the specific requests. I will be lifting them up! And I would ask for prayers for a couple in our church whose son will be born very soon...but they already know that he will not live long if he even survives the delivery. Their names are John and Frances; their son's name is Stephen. (they have 3 other sons as well) Please pray for God's peace and strength to fill them to overflowing, and that they sense God's delight in them in choosing life and to carry this sweet baby to term; and that they will have some time to love and hold him while he is still alive. Thanks, prayer warriors!
