To all those who are mothers, Happy Mother's Day! It's a big job being a mom and some days are harder than others. I have to say I think my mom and mother-in-law are the best, they have done so much for us it's unbelievable! We love you so much and could only hope to help our kids one day the way you have helped us. Thank you for your incredible example.
David has been doing well on the nasal cannula and is down on his flow to about 0.8L, which is great! He has been very awake, I think due to the large amount of caffeine he got yesterday after being extubated. They use this to help babies keep breathing and their heart rate up. He finally got to sleep just a little while ago, but it is extremely loud here today. Please pray he can get some rest. Oh and before I forget I think I got the best Mother's Day gift ever! I got to hold David today for a little while, first time since surgery Wednesday. We also had a lovely outdoor lunch with my mom and dad, Joel's mom, Joel and Anna.
David should be able to move around a little more tomorrow and get a bath hopefully! Please continue to pray with us - that his shunt would work effectively with no problems, he would continue to wean on his oxygen and lungs would heal, he would get continuity with nurses, and he would tolerate by mouth feedings (starting tomorrow!).
Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Psalm 150:1-2
Crystal, David is truly blessed to have you as his mom. (PS We don't have an email for you.)

Happy Mothers Day Crystal! Glad to read about David's progress and your family time together. The beauty of the simple things is so cool. Audie and I continue to pray for David's complete healing and the restoration of "normal" life for your family.
