Picture with Mommy

All has been quiet since yesterday morning. They don't like to use the "q" word in the hospital but I say let's thank God for the small victories as they come. Finally, after a week of life, David is stable enough to start eating. He is getting 1 cc of milk every 6 hours and has tolerated it well so far. We are thankful that his blood and body chemistry have pretty much stabilized over the last 24 hours and he is resting quietly. He is still on Ibuprofen to hopefully close the patent ductus arteriosis (that's the PDA, or artery between the two sides of his heart that was still open). Please continue to pray for a complete closing of that artery so David doesn't have to undergo surgery. As always we continue to pray that the bleeding in his brain has stopped and for his long-term outcome as brain damage generally occurs as the body tries to reabsorb the blood that has clotted in the brain. David will be undergoing another head ultrasound tomorrow to see the status of the bleeding. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. I'm looking forward to reporting more good days.

Here is a picture of David from Friday (six days old)
