Oh, David!

pic from amazon

This book was apparently written for my son. Seriously! I guess someone should have warned me before choosing this name for him, ha! My sweet David is getting much more rambunctious and boy-like in the last few weeks. And I commonly hear myself saying, "Oh, David!" He is so determined to get where he is going and explore (hallelujah!), it is amazing. I find that I have to remind myself that I prayed for this and thank God instead of the alternative. :)

Also in the last month, David has erupted four new teeth, three on top and one on bottom. Which has not slowed him down one bit except in the drinking department. He actually did not gain weight in a month, but has become much more active with crawling, so the doctor let it slide and will recheck in about 3 weeks. I am praying that he will begin to drink more milk (which has never been his strong suit) and eat more to cover his increased activity. Which by the way, Mr. David is now picking up his food and eating it! No kidding. In two weeks time, David learned how to put food in his mouth after speech therapy taught me a trick or two. He is such a smart baby, no doubt.

And guess what else, he is drinking from a sippy cup too. :)

Ask and you shall receive. Luke 11:9, paraphrase

Now, I should clarify... he certainly drops food and not all of it gets in his mouth. And certain things are easier. With the sippy, we are still in the beginning stages and he does do some spitting. BUT he prefers it now over the bottle and can drink much more at a time. It was the last sippy cup I tried that finally worked. If you ever want to know about nipples for bottles or sippy cups, please ask, I am a resident expert in these areas and have tried and tested nearly everything. *serious chuckle to myself*. Maybe I should take up feeding therapy. Hmm no.

And the list goes on... David is head bopping to music! He loves playing with fridge magnets, pushing cars, playing piano, flipping through pages of a book, started saying mamamamamama last week, his first official word would be diaper - sounded "didi", he is an extremely messy eater, he loves opening and closing things, and spinning round objects. He is a joy to be around and I love him so.

Thank you for your prayers, thoughts and love. Some pictures to come...

  1. I would love to hear about your cup challenges! I need some tips for a family dealing with the same issue. So let me know what finally worked for David!
    Thanks!
