The trip to Phoenix went well! We had two appointments. First, the pulmonology clinic checked his monitor recordings and his lungs. The nurse practitioner said that he looked good and lungs were great, they did a quick check of his oxygen level with the oxygen off and it was perfect! So, this week we will do an overnight oximetry study... which means another monitor will record his oxygen level overnight during sleeping hours. If he can maintain good readings then we can get rid of the oxygen!! We will that tomorrow night or this weekend, so please be praying! It would make life that much easier. Believe me, I REAllY do not like the oxygen. Between tangled cords, stepping on them and not being able to just carry him around, it is extremely frustrating! Really... he takes it out of his nose all of the time! One of the NICU doctors always says that is the way they wean themselves. I hope she is right!
On another note, the nurse was telling me that they usually keep the monitor on the baby until there are no events in 60 days. YIKES! didn't know that............. well 50 days more for us then.
Our second visit was with the audiologist. Wow I was not ready for this one. After much sweat, David crying with his alien attire on, 2 hours... he passed his hearing test with flying colors! Praise God! He literally passed out at one point, so the audiologist did all of the frequencies in both ears minus one (because the power went out) and he passed. He said he would write a positive report and see us when David was 2 1/2 years old!
There is our good news! We go back to Phoenix again... next week to see the eye doctor and the neurosurgeon. Please keep his shunt in your prayers, he still has the fluid build up around his shunt (because of his grunting I'm convinced). Thank you so much! God Bless you!
Hi Joel and Crystal.........wow so much to be thankful for huh??? I am continually praying for all of you. God is soooo gooood. Love ya all...
