The day is finally here...

So here is the post I wanted to post right when we left the hospital but didn't get to finish... I will spruce it up a bit, here it is.

I have been thinking about this post and what to write for a long, long, long time, to be exact 106 days... that's how long we've been here. I can't even believe it. I really have trouble remembering what I was even doing in life before David was born. I remember that day vividly though. I don't think I have ever been so challenged and stretched in my entire life in these days. God has taught us a lot!

We are taking our beautiful baby boy David William Knutson home! That's right! We are so excited to be a family again, not separated but one.

"This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

The days have been good and the days have been bad, and from this day forward I pray the good ones will be abundant. But at least I know when the bad days come, God is good, never moving or changing, regardless of our situation and feelings. Our faith has been increased by His miracle of life in David.

On to the important stuff... there are so many people to thank it's unthinkable. But I want to try and give it a shot!

First, before all else, our families. They both dropped everything and came to us immediately. Willing to do anything. It is amazing to say the least. We could not have done this without them. Thank you for your love, support and help.

Friends & extended family, our church - Your prayers, flowers, gifts, notes of encouragement, meals, visits, phone calls are cherished, each and every one. With the difficulty this experience has brought to us, having you here and with us has been comforting and will not be forgotten. Thank you for your dedication to praying and seeking the Lord on David's behalf.

Thank you Ronald McDonald House - Wow, this is an amazing organization! This would have been so much harder without them. The room that we were able to live in for 3 1/2 months was perfect! And when we had to move recently, it was a little rough but way better in the end and still we were provided with everything we needed! God is great! If you haven't heard of them please view the link, just click on the name above. They always need volunteers and donations, or you could even plan to cook a meal for the families! You would be serving families in a situation just like ours... what a blessing!

Thank you Phoenix Children's Hospital! Obviously to the ones who helped David survive and grow. He had excellent care from the nurses and doctors. Our primary nurses (Jane and Abby) were so great, they treated David like their own and stuck with us to the end (at least until we left that campus). Thank you for caring for David, helping me to feel comfortable when things looked not so great and being a friend that would spend lots of time chatting and listening. Thank you to Deb, Kim, Denise, Gwen, Becky, Kate, Rebecca, and Mary (who kicked us out the door) for taking great care of David as well. Thank you all for help in getting David home and for advocating for him. I learned so much about being a nurse being on the other side and watching all of you. Thank you to the number of doctors and nurse practitioners who cared for David, thank you for doing everything you could to help David grow and thrive.

We still have a long way to go in David's recovery and growth, we are encouraged by what the Lord has done and will continue to do. It has been an interesting couple of days at home, trying to get used to lots of equipment, appointments and taking care of David and Anna. We are so glad that we are here though and not in Phoenix! David has done pretty well, the problems he has are when he coughs. Please pray for this, his reflux is pretty bad and I'm pretty sure is the cause of this. Also for sleeping at night... David's grunting is quite loud and we haven't quite figured out how to handle that and sleep. :) Pray for rest.

I plan to continue this blog if you are interested in keeping up! I don't think everyday will happen but I will try and do my best! I can't thank you enough for your prayers, faith and support during this time, we thank the Lord!

  1. Be patient....don't expect everything to fall into place right away. Now that you are all together under one roof, the day to day stuff will sort itself out. We're just glad David is home with his family!
