I concur with my lovely wife's assessment. Life is full but God granted us a small reprieve this afternoon. In addition to the determination that they were probably going to have to do some drilling on David's head to drain the fluid on his brain, Crystal was told today that we were going to have to change hospitals since they couldn't do the surgery on David in this NICU. They needed a proper operating room for a child in David's condition. Crystal even signed the papers for the transfer. Aside from having to move David, this would mean saying goodbye to the staff we have come to know and trust and move to a NICU with more of a common area instead of the quiet, private(ish) room we enjoy now with David. This was about as close to a breaking point as I have come. As I was driving from Yuma to Phoenix this afternoon I was having a long talk at God about this (yes, you read that right). About the second hour of driving, and once I had stopped talking, God reminded me once again that He is in control and that I can rest in Him. I was able to accept the move and be confident knowing that this too would work for His glory. Twenty minutes later I got a call from Crystal. The neurosurgeon had come to meet with her and told her that he would be willing to bring his surgical team from the other hospital and turn our room into an operating room for the day. Wow! Talk about a quick answer to prayer. God is good, is he not?
David's surgery is set for Monday pending the results of another head ultrasound. We will be praying for another miracle. This time that his body starts absorbing this fluid and they are able to cancel the surgery.

Many, many prayers for your family during your time of need. We ask God to lift you up and have faith in his plan. God works in the most miraculous ways and we rejoice in the news from the neurosurgeon. We pray David will continue his fight and will not need the surgery. We pray for little Anna that her lip heals soon, too. God Bless each of you. Love, Nathan, Jennifer and Etta
ReplyDeleteJoshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
Joel and Crystal,
ReplyDeleteI am with you still and am praying as well.
Go David!
Dad
what a fight of faith you are all experiencing. Will continue praying earnestly for your little guy and for strength and encouragement for you all. Thank you for keeping us all informed of little David's status.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a story! I believe God is okay with us voicing our fears and frustrations. He lets us vent and then speaks if we're willing to listen. Hang on to the promise that He will not give you more than you can bear and celebrate the victories you are seeing each day. Lord, grant the Knutson family strength and peace as they deal with the unknown. Heal their son through your goodness and grace. Show your power in great and mighty ways through this little boy. In Your name, amen.
ReplyDeleteDear family,.....wow that is such an awesome thing, of course we have an Awesome God. Our prayers continue to be lifted from us for David and you too. We love you all so much. God's Blessing. Penny and Family
