David was 3 weeks old yesterday, isn't that amazing? He weighs 2 lbs today. They are giving him full feedings every 3 hours, and no longer has IV "food". He seems to be tolerating it well.
Today he is having occasional drops in oxygen AND drops in his heart rate... which can be attributed to gagging on the breathing tube, or just being a preemie, or being sick... they aren't quite sure. It does not last long, maybe a few seconds.
Tomorrow, he will get the head ultrasound to determine his need for surgery. His head is still growing but the nurse said today it was very minimal. The final call is made by the neurosurgeon, we are trusting that God will be guiding him in his decisions. The ultrasound will be read almost immediately by the doctors here and the neurosurgeon, they are usually done around 10am.
Continue to pray for strength for our family! Joel heads home today, pray for safety and peace for him.
P.S. sodium level 131, much improved, praise Jesus!
Thanks for the detailed updates on David and the rest of the Knutson family. Glad the reports have been positive and praying for good news from the neurosurgeon on Monday. Continued love and prayers from Texas!
ReplyDeleteWhat a three weeks it has been for you all...especially little David! What a fighter! Today we were reminded at church of the power of prayer. You are living testimonies of it!! And our prayers continue. ""Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." Eph. 3:20-21
