David started a new game with everyone last night. Every few hours (five times last night and two so far today) he drastically slows or stops breathing and drops his heart rate to 1/3rd to 1/4th normal. These episodes have been lasting for several minutes and get everyone very excited around here. The staff do not like excitement and do not find this new game amusing. Please pray for continued strength for David as they try to wean him off the machines that have been keeping him alive. We thank you all for the continued support and prayer. One more thing I forgot to mention: With all that's gone on I think we overlooked the celebration of a new life and a new member of our family. I am officially partying for the next few hours at the hospital and on my drive back to Yuma this afternoon. Thank you Father for my son.

I am a friend of Janet Jepsen; I, too, had a preemie (33 wks) and know just how precious they are. I have been following your blog and sending prayers your way. I find so much inspiration in your posts and your amazing love of the Lord and everything he blesses us with. Prayers sent for your sweet baby. Jenny Zecher
ReplyDeleteJoel,
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about the celebration issue myself! I noticed that I was only thinking about David and any issues that might come up each day, and never thought to say congratulations to you and your lovely wife! So here they are!
Congratulations on the birth of your son!!!!!!!!!!!
Uncle Al.
Oh, your precious family! We celebrate David's life, and we celebrate God's amazing love, provision, and care of you all. I am reminded of a chorus we often sing at our church:
ReplyDelete"Savior, He can move the mountains. Our God is mighty to save; He is mighty to save. Forever'Author of salvation', He rose and conquered the grave. Jesus conquered the grave."
That is the One to whom we pray on behalf of your entire family. He truly IS mighty to save!
God bless you all, especially sweet David.

Praying for baby David right now! Lord, let the breath of your SPIRIT give him life and strength in his lungs in Jesus' name.
