Update

Some David stats -
*still on the oscillator for breathing
*CO2 levels improved
*chest x-ray improved
*being lightly sedated to help with the ventilation

They have found some organisms in his urine culture, although nothing is blatantly obvious. Apparently, even a urine infection could cause such a drastic turn in preemies. Although they are not convinced this is it, they think it may have been a multitude of things. Either way, I am extremely thankful that the other cultures are negative so far.

I talked with the neurosurgeon last night and we will not move hospitals yet, at least not today, maybe tomorrow depending on David. The surgery to place the
VP shunt (please click here for more info) was going to be done Monday but the surgeon has decided not to do it yet. He wants to be sure David is healthy enough for his body to handle it.

Prayer needs -
*needs to poop :)
*wean off oscillator
*stable CO2 levels
*cultures continue to be negative

Thank you for your prayers and support during this time.

Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Look to the LORD and his strength;
seek his face always.
Remember the wonders he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
Psalm 105:3-5

  1. Crystal and Joel,
    I just wanted you to know that I am still praying for our little David. I am so glad that our God is in control. I know that you rest in Him. Be encouraged and know that God is holding David's hand.

  2. We did the March of Dimes yesterday and I got to tell our kids all about David and they prayed their little hearts out for him. They kept saying, "We are walking for David today." It was precious and their prayers were powerful. Please know the Cochran family is still praying. All 5 of us hope to meet David one day and see the miracle of the Lord in his little life. I love you Crystal!

  4. My prayers are with you. I believe in the Power of Prayer and a God of Miracles, through out prayer our daughter is alive, today she is almost 4 yrs old and keeping up with her two older brothers. May our LORD continue to watch over David, and wisdom to the medical staff that is around him, may you and your family have the strength and peace that only comes from our Lord.
